Bio
Five generations have farmed the land we call home.  Medieval buildings sit in the midst of ancient archaeological sites going back to the neolithic age, making it humbling to be the present day custodians.

My work is inspired by objects and shapes I come across in this environment, reduced to abstracted sculptural forms that have a birdlike or botanical essence but family is also a key inspiration for my work.  Along with nurturing the land, music and meditation are integral to our daily life, the effects of these can be seen resonating throughout my work.

After the initial idea for a sculpture is mapped out on the workbench, the piece seems to take on a life of its own and becomes a sort of meditation.

Much of my work starts with me carving into high density foam.  After the main shape has evolved I either work in plaster or more often fibreglass and resin which is robust and allows me to push the work to a far more delicate point.  It also means the finished piece is suitable for gardens as well as interiors.  On completion, I make a mould which allows each sculpture to become one of a limited edition, never more than 12.

Much of my work is then cast in bronze.
