Maxine Farmer

BIO
Maxine Farmer is a British sculptor whose work is held in collections in the UK, Europe, and the USA. In addition to exhibiting across 2024, her cold cast bronze piece ‘The Reader’ was selected by the prestigious Royal Society of Artists for its annual exhibition in the Mall, London. Earlier in her career, Maxine was shortlisted for the International Emerging Artists Awards for three consecutive years.

A keen gardener herself, Maxine’s focus on outdoor sculptures continues to grow. Her process is to remove extraneous detail so that the raw energy and emotion within each piece are clearly captured. Those ephemeral moments: a shrug of a shoulder, a twist of a neck, poised for flight…all these tell us more about each other than words or distracting details ever can.

Maxine has studied at St Martin’s, the V&A, and Tate Britain in London. She has also had one-to-one tuition from/ collaborated with Beatrice Hoffman, the celebrated Oxfordshire-based sculptor. Until recently focused on private commissions, she now seeks awareness of her work among a wider audience.

A British citizen who divides her time between the UK and France, Maxine is a member of the Oxford Sculptors Group, Surrey Sculpture Society, and the Visual Artists Association.
