Wellbeing Sanctuary
“Come as you are.
Leave feeling more connected to yourself, to nature, and to the world around you”.
A place to reconnect with yourself, through nature, creativity and mindful practice
Nestled within the peaceful surroundings of Wye Valley Sculpture Garden, our Wellbeing Sanctuary is a place to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with what matters most.
Surrounded by mature trees, thoughtfully designed gardens and contemporary sculpture, this is more than a beautiful setting — it is a sanctuary where nature, creativity and wellbeing come together to support rest, reflection and renewal.
Whether you visit for a therapeutic treatment, take part in one of our Sanctuary Sessions, or simply spend time immersed in the landscape, every experience has been carefully considered to encourage presence, balance and a deeper connection with both yourself and the natural world.
Set within the nationally protected landscape of the Wye Valley National Landscape (formerly the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the garden offers a peaceful escape from the pace of everyday life, inviting you to pause, reset and return home feeling restored.
Why Nature Heals
For thousands of years, people have instinctively turned to nature for comfort, clarity and healing. Today, modern research is helping us understand why.
Studies in environmental psychology and public health show that spending time in natural environments can reduce cortisol—the body's primary stress hormone—lower blood pressure, improve mood, enhance concentration and support emotional resilience. Even short periods immersed in green spaces have been shown to calm the nervous system and encourage the body's natural "rest and restore" response.
Nature gently invites us to slow down.
The sound of birdsong, the movement of leaves in the breeze, the changing light through the trees and the simple rhythm of walking all encourage mindfulness without effort. When combined with creative experiences, mindful movement or therapeutic practices, these benefits become even more profound.
At Wye Valley Sculpture Garden, the landscape itself becomes part of the wellbeing experience. Every path, sculpture and quiet corner has been designed to encourage curiosity, reflection and a deeper sense of connection.
Our Philosophy
We believe wellbeing isn't something that can be rushed or prescribed. It begins by creating the space to simply be.
The garden was originally designed by resident artist and landscape designer Gemma Kate Wood as an outdoor gallery for sculpture—a place where art could exist in harmony with the natural landscape. That same philosophy continues to guide its evolution today.
Our vision is to create a sanctuary where people can experience the restorative qualities of nature alongside creativity, mindful practice and holistic wellbeing. Sculpture encourages us to pause and observe. Nature reminds us to breathe and reconnect. Together, they create an environment that supports both reflection and renewal.
As the Wellbeing Sanctuary continues to grow, our intention is to bring together experienced practitioners who share a common belief in the healing power of nature. Through one-to-one therapies, movement practices, breathwork, meditation and seasonal wellbeing experiences, we hope to offer opportunities for people to reconnect with themselves in a meaningful and lasting way.
Healing looks different for everyone.
Sometimes it begins with a quiet walk through the garden. Sometimes with a conversation, a therapy, a yoga class or simply sitting amongst the trees.
Whatever brings you here, we know that you’ll leave feeling calmer, lighter and more connected than when you arrived.
