Rich Bindon

BIO
Rich Bindon is a Wiltshire based metal working artist, creating sculptures and bespoke metal art under the name ‘Solo Metal Arts’. Inspiration for his work comes from wildlife and science fiction, although he loves the challenge to create one off commissions for clients regardless of subject matter.

He is a self-taught artist, having first started making small items from metal at the age of ten while spending time at his dad’s engineering workshop.

On leaving school Rich continued with engineering himself, at sixteen he began a toolmaking apprenticeship at the Rover Group car company which he went on to complete in 1995.

A self proclaimed perfectionist, Rich strives to ensure every piece of art he creates is as well made and perfectly finished as is possible.

The bulrush and cutlery Kingfisher pieces that Rich has created for 2026 are inspired by the many Kingfishers he remembers seeing as a child on the banks of the Oxfordshire canals, He says, 'Whilst on holiday with my parents on their canal boat, I would often catch a fleeting glimpse of a Kingfisher in the reeds, or perched on an overhanging branch. I spent many evenings fishing from the top of the boat and on one occasion, I can fondly remember a brightly coloured Kingfisher joining me on the roof for a few minutes, It was a very special experience I will never forget'.
