Bio
I work from my home studio in Nottinghamshire. I mostly focus on sculpting with clay, predominantly porcelain. My work is primarily concerned with climate crisis, the preservation of the natural world and speciesism. Working in clay is a meditative process for me, whereby I hand-build everything individually. My direct physical connection to the work forces me to slow down and be intentional, grounding me to my presence within the universe. Flourish & Forge are 2 chandelier forms consisting of small porcelain elements based on phytoplankton 3(Flourish) and tree seeds & pollen (Forge). There are striking similarities between the forms. They are about the precious balance of our ecosystems. Trees and phytoplankton both play huge roles in capturing carbon and releasing oxygen. Trees are vital habitat for many species of wildlife, phytoplankton is the base of the entire aquatic food chain. Humanities actions are disturbing their natural balance, my work is a call to action to re-dress the balance and work towards a healthier planet.
