Bio
I started making mosaics around 8 years ago and discovered that there were so many techniques to try and creative possibilities to discover that my attention was captured and has continued to be since. I work in a college supporting young people with their mental wellbeing and working with glass gives me a creative outlet around my main career. I spent several years exploring the possibilities with mosaics before purchasing a small kiln so I could create fused glass. More recently, I have had a desire to merge the two skills together and create work that incorporates both fused glass and mosaics. I work in an outdoor and craft education provision which allows me to be surrounded by the beauty of nature on a daily basis and forms the inspiration for much of my work, whether this be the colours, forms, changes or rhythms of nature. The product of working in a valley full of streams and ponds whilst warmth is sought and craft created from fire led to the inspiration for these two pieces of art - Powerful Elements.
